The Story in Brief
PARKnSHOP, one of Greater China’s leading supermarket chains, identified cash handling as an opportunity to improve operational efficiency across its store estate. With cash still playing a major role in daily transactions, the business needed a faster and more consistent process to support store teams.
The Challenge
Cash and vouchers were being counted manually in high volumes several times a day, creating a time-consuming process that increased the risk of errors and added pressure on store teams.
The business also needed a solution that could work across stores with different operational profiles. Cash handling had to be managed consistently from front-of-house registers through to cash storage in safes, while still fitting the reality of day-to-day store operations.
There was also a clear need for stronger accountability. PARKnSHOP wanted auditable records that would support sign-off by cashiers and managers, helping improve control while reducing friction in store.
At the same time, the business wanted the benefits to be felt beyond the back office. A better cash handling process had the potential to reduce pressure at shift changes, support more productive use of staff time, and improve the customer experience in store.
Manual Counts
Limited Accountability
High Error Risk
The Solution
Following a five-store trial, PARKnSHOP selected Cashmaster One Max with integrated Cashmaster One Printer as the right fit for the business. The solution was configured to support cash handling from registers through to back-office storage, while also managing vouchers and coupons alongside cash counts.
During the trial period, the setup was refined in collaboration with finance and operations teams to align with PARKnSHOP’s store requirements and daily cash handling routines.
Integrated printing added an extra layer of control by producing auditable records for cashier and manager sign-off. This strengthened accountability and improved visibility without creating extra work for store teams.
The Outcome
The rollout delivered immediate benefits. Cash handling became faster, more accurate, and easier to manage, helping free up in-store resources for more important day-to-day tasks.
The business also achieved a clear improvement in process control. Printed records gave stores a stronger audit trail, while the new setup improved the accuracy of records and added greater security around cash handling.
Those gains were felt on the floor as well as in the back office. Shorter queues at shift changes and more productive use of staff time helped the solution support both store efficiency and the wider customer experience.
Following the success of the trial, the solution was rolled out across 300 stores in Hong Kong and Macau, giving PARKnSHOP a more controlled and consistent approach to cash handling across the estate.

What This Means for Grocers Like You
For grocers handling high volumes of cash and vouchers, manual routines can create pressure in more places than the back office. They slow down daily processes, weaken accountability, and can affect the customer experience during busy periods.
A more controlled process helps reduce that pressure. Faster counts, auditable records, and a setup designed around store operations can improve daily efficiency while giving teams more confidence in the way cash is handled.
